WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY? / आपतकालीन अवस्थामा के गर्ने ?

  • Keep the snakebite victim calm. DO NOT panic.
  • Get the victim to lie down - try not to move the bitten part. Loosen any tight clothing or jewelry.
  • DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE WOUND SITE. Do not apply any home
  • remedies and DO NOT cut, burn, or suck, the bite site.
  • DO NOT feed anything.
  • Check the table below to find the antivenom centre closest to you. Phone them to inquire if they have antivenom serum available and ask if a health care worker is available. Inform them that you are on the way with a patient.
  • As soon as possible - transport the victim to a health care facility.
  • If a motorcycle is available - place the victim safely between the driver and the pillion rider. Remember: "bitten by snake - catch motorcycle rider-reach nearby snakebite treatment center - save life!"
  • If no transportation is available: use the website to find a health care worker who can give you advice over the phone.
  • Beware of dead snakes also. Do not try to catch or handle a dead snake. It may inflict reflex bite sometime after death also.
  • If feasible, take a photo to show the doctor. The doctor may be able to identify the snake and may be able to determine whether it is a poisonous snake or not.
  • Use any kind of transportation available. If taking a motorcycle - place the victim safely between the driver and the pillion rider. Remember: "bitten by snake – catch motorcycle rider– reach nearby snakebite treatment center – save life!"

  • मरेको सर्पप्रति पनि होसियार रहनुहोस्। मरेको सर्पलाई समात्ने वा छोइने प्रयास नगर्नुहोस्। कहिलेकाहीं मरेपछि पनि त्यसले प्रतिबिम्ब प्रतिक्रिया (reflex action) दिई टोक्न सक्छ।
