Activity #1: Create a Budget for Your DSB Process

Creating a strategy needs time and money. Planning your budget helps ensure all costs are covered.

Draft a preliminary budget

Use the provided Budget Template or one you already use, and estimate costs for:

• Team fees
• Meetings
• Workshops
• Field Insights
• Implementation costs
• Evaluation
• Miscellaneous

Review your budget

Check your budget to make sure all necessary costs are included. Adjust amounts if needed and calculate the total.

Confirm your budget with decision-makers

• Share your budget with the team and decision-makers for feedback. Consider:
  • Does the budget cover everything?
  • Is there enough funding for field visits or workshops?
  • If there are gaps, how can they be addressed?
• If you haven’t found a funding source for your DSB process yet, use the budget to build your funding proposal to share with relevant donors.
