✅ 4 signs of good positioning for successful breastfeeding:
- The Baby's neck and body are straight
- The Baby's body is turned towards the mother
- The baby's body is close to the mother
- The Baby's whole body is supported

✅ 4 signs of good attachment for successful breastfeeding:
- Chin touches the breast
- Mouth is wide open
- More areola is visible above the baby's mouth than below

BREASTFEEDING TIPS
In the first weeks:
- Babies have at least 6 wet nappies and 2-3 stools per day
- Babies breast feed at least 8 times in 24 hours, feeding as often as he/she wants
- Babies should be content after most feedings
- Babies will pause in between suckling and you will hear them swallow
- Your breasts will feel full before feeding and soft after feedings
- You should not feel continuing pain on the nipple while breastfeeding
- Your nipples should not be sore, cracked or bleeding
- Make sure one breast is emptied before switching to the other breast
OTHER TIPS
- Avoid bottle feeding and pacifiers to prevent nipple confusion and diarrhea.
- If your baby is not breast feeding well, you can express and cup feed your baby
- If a health worker tells you to give formula, follow the instructions for preparation and feeding
